Each year, Hope United Methodist Women choose a woman to be honored who has been active in the life of Hope UMC and the community. On January 29, Patty was named “Woman of the Year” during Sunday services. Patty is a wife, a mother of two, and is a new grandmother. She contributes to the life of Hope UMC and volunteers in a variety of ways in the Marshalltown community.
Patty has served on several church committees, prepares food for funeral luncheons and other church functions, provides snacks for the Wonderful Wednesday after school program, and always has a smile or a kind word to share with anyone she visits with. Patty has attended the in-gathering many times, is active with the Peacemakers quilters group, is a member and has been a co-leader of the Mary Martha Circle, and has delivered Christmas bags to shut-ins. Next summer, she will be a participant in the Inter-generational Mission Trip to Marion, Virginia to work with Project Crossroads.
In the community, Patty volunteers at the hospital working with the annual pot-pie fundraiser and works several days a month in the hospital gift shop. She is an active supporter and participant with a charity that makes specially weighted blankets for autistic children.
It is an honor to name Patty as Hope’s United Methodist Women’s “Woman of the Year”.
