C.A.R.E. – Care About Reaching Everyone.
2021 Hope Members C.A.R.E (Care About Reaching Everyone)
As we begin a new year and approach the 50th Anniversary of Hope United Methodist Church, we continue to look for ways to be the church in 2021. Hope UMC has a legacy of being a mission minded church so we have decided to continue Hope C.A.R.E.s by offering drop off events, campaigns and other ways to serve each month during 2021.
The Discipleship Pathways team (Connect, Grow, Serve) has been contemplating ways to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and came up with the idea of finding “50 ways to serve” during our anniversary year. This year we invite our Hope family, to prayerfully consider how you might share Jesus’ love by serving others. Finding “50 Ways to Serve” seems like a daunting task but with God’s help and by working together we can accomplish much.
Here are some options to consider this month:
1– Make a donation to the Birthday or Noisy Offering this month. (Hope United Methodist Church, 2203 S 3rd Ave, Marshalltown, IA 50158)
Noisy Offering: March 14th – Hawthorne Hill, Iowa (UMCOR Sunday)
Birthday Offering: March 21st – Wings of Refuge, National
2-Consider donating to a Hope CAREs Drop Off Event -This month, on March 27 from 9:00-12:00, we will be supporting Wesley Woods our UM Camp near Indianola. We have asked the Camp Board to put together a “wish list” of items that would support camp activities. Monetary donations will also be accepted that will go towards camperships and camp repairs. Donated items can be dropped off under the Hope awning. Volunteers will unload your donations and you can stay in your car.
The following is the wish list of items:
Craft supplies: embroidery floss, tempera paint, crayons, etc.
Life jackets, pool noodles, water toys
Game balls: volleyballs, footballs, basket balls, soccer balls
Horse brushes and combs, helmets, pony treats
Maintenance: drill bits, deck screws
Health center: face masks, gloves, Band-Aids, etc.
3-Volunteer to help at a Hope Members C.A.R.E. drop off event. Contact the Church office (641-752-5104) if you are interested in helping.
4-Volunteer to help with the Hope’s Door to Yours program for our Sunday School children and youth. Individuals plan, bag up, and deliver packets to each family twice per month. The packets include such things as a family devotion, bible story, craft activities, and more. If you are interested in helping contact the Church office (641-752-5104).
5-Send a note or call someone you think needs to know that someone cares.
6-Volunteer to be a Meals on Wheels driver and deliver meals once per month in Marshalltown. Call Larry at 641-691-8419 for more information or to volunteer.
7-Help save a life by donating blood at the LifeServe Blood Center in Marshalltown. Call 515-288-0276 to set up an appointment.
8-Become a part of our Hope Comfort and Care Team. Pastor Nan is looking for people who are willing to connect with Hope members and friends who are living in Care Facilities, Assisted Living Housing, or are homebound. Give Pastor Nan a call for more information or to volunteer.
His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Mathew 25: 23. Let us strive to be good and faithful servants during 2021.
