Chimes of Hope was established in 1998. The chimes were gifted to the church in memory of Ingrid, former pastor Leonard’s sister. Chimes of Hope practices Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and participates in both Sunday worship services the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, September through May. If you are interested in playing please contact the church office. We are always looking for new members!
Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of the month. We need volunteers to help serve during the worship service. I you would like to volunteer, contact Pastor Nan at 752-5104.
Each Sunday between services, volunteers make orange juice, serve coffee, arrange trays of rolls for fellowship time, and clean up the kitchen after coffee time. You may volunteer by signing the clipboard that are passed through the pews on Sunday mornings.
Funeral Meal Volunteers
Meals are coordinated by the United Methodist Women Circles at Hope. Volunteers are needed to call upon when a funeral meal is requested by the family. Volunteers prepare salads and sandwiches, set up the fellowship hall for the meal, and clean up after the lunch has been served. If you are interested in being on a list of potential volunteers, please contact the church office.
Greeters shake hands and welcome people to Hope United Methodist Church. They are typically at the main entrance approximately 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each service. Four greeters are needed each week. If you are interested in volunteering to be a greeter, please sign the clipboards which are passed through the pews during each Sunday Service.
The nursery is available during each Sunday Service, and during some special events for infants through 5 year old. Volunteers are needed who are caring and nurturing with children. Nursery Caregivers would be responsible for the safety and well being of the children under their care. Parents sign in when dropping of their children and leave contact information in case a question or emergency irises. There is a need for 1-2 volunteers for each Service every Sunday.
At this time, we have one volunteer who helps coordinates the nursery. We are looking for a second person to help co-coordinate the nursery volunteers, supplies and safety updates. If you are interested, please contact the church office.
We are a group of 6 woman that do hand quilting every Wednesday from 1:30 until 5:00 . Our primary mission is to hand quilt projects and complete at least one baby quilt every year. Our completed projects are auctioned off annually with the funds supporting various mission outreach. Tea time is always at 3:00. If you are a hand quilter please come join us.
Hope has a prayer team that prays daily at home for Pastor Nan, our Leadership, our Ministries and for God to reveal his plan for Hope Church. Those participating receive a “Prayer Team Playbook” which provides a daily scripture to read before praying for Hope UMC. It will only take a few minutes each day but think about how powerful that time will have on the life of God’s church.
Sound & Video System
Though the staples of the worship services are organ, piano and chimes, other instrumental offerings are always welcome! For some choir anthems, an additional instrumental part may be indicated, such as flute, violin or trumpet. However, instrumental solos are always welcome and may be included in morning worship, and are especially welcome during the summer months. Please contact the church office at 752-5104.
Hope UMC offers Sunday School classes for all ages 3 through adult.
Summer Arts at Hope UMC
During the summer months, through Labor Day weekend, the various choirs at Hope are on hiatus. Though we tend to think of music automatically, there are many arts expressions that are appropriately shared during worship! Examples include: poetry, dance, photography, painting, signing a special piece of music with or without a singer, instrumental music (see following), creative writing, and, of course, vocal music of any variety. The only common thread is that the presentation be appropriate for the worship setting in word,
movement, dress and visual appeal, and be an expression of the faith of the presenter. It is especially helpful in scheduling if the artist/presenter will agree to be present in all services on the Sunday they select. Please contact the church office at 752-5104.
United Methodist Women
United Methodist Women welcomes all women of the church and provides opportunity to turn faith, hope, and love into action. We provide resources to grow spiritually and to work for justice through service, and advocacy to change unfair policies and systems in our community, country, and world. In addition to circle meetings, we hold general meetings in June, August, and November.
Mary Martha Circle meets at 9:30 on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Breakfast is provided by 2 hostesses from our circle. Devotions and a lesson using the UMW program book, arranging for a speaker, or using other sources for the program are presented. We participate night annual rummage sale, cookie carry out, Christmas baskets for shut-ins, and recycling of greeting cards that are available for sale in our reception area. Funds from these events support mission opportunities. Members are encouraged to attend district meetings throughout the year.
Faith Evening Circle is part of United Methodist Women and meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. We usually meet in the homes of the members or at the church and focus on missional projects or have a fun program. Members host the meeting each month and provide a dessert or something light to eat, and are responsible to do devotions and find a program or a project. Our group consists of women over 55, but we welcome and encourage anyone in the church to come to our meetings. If anyone would like more information, please contact me.
Susanna Circle is a part of the United Methodist Women at Hope. We typically meet at 5:30 on the fourth Thursday of the month in homes or at the church. Members share in the leadership of the circle and sign up to provide a light meal, devotions or the program for each meeting. Susanna circle participates in several outreach ministries each year including: supporting a family at Christmas, serving at the House of Compassion, delivering May Baskets to home bound and nursing home residents, making blankets for the Ronald McDonald house, providing kits for the Annual Ingathering, supporting the UMW rummage sale and Annual UMW Cookie carryout.
Ushers are available each Sunday at both services. The duties are to hand out the bulletins, assist in finding seats, and to collect the offering. On the first Sunday of the month, ushers direct the congregation for communion. If you are interested in ushering, you can sign the clipboards that are passed through the pews on Sunday mornings.
The worship leader/liturgist assists in the worship service by leading the congregation in the call to worship and unison opening prayer, reading scripture, and sometimes assisting with serving communion.
